LOVE IS… FOOD

When I think of the essentials of food for the hungry, I can’t help but think of a dear customer we call “Blue Eyes”. He is a grandfather suffering with cancer, yet every Saturday he comes to The Pantry because his family needs food. Before COVID-19 he was already caring for some of his grandchildren, but due to the pandemic and its vengeance, he found himself housing more of his own children who lost jobs and faced their own homelessness – what a man and a blessing!

This precious man is a Valentine to his family.

He recently fell and landed square on his face and blackened both eyes to the point he can barely see, but he keeps moving forward. Why? Because The Pantry is essential for this grandfather who swings wide his heart and home to his family; offering a place to shelter safe.

“Blue Eyes” is just one of the many we serve during these hard times when it seems like the world is falling apart all around them. The Pantry is thankful for each gift that comes our way because it means we can remain a constant resource of food and offer the solace needed for those hurting.
