The Pantry – Atlanta

Our Local Mission

The Pantry – Atlanta exists to help relieve the distress of those experiencing hunger, anguish, and insufficiency. Our mission is to reach out to all who are expressing a need for food with an expectation that they will be served with dignity, compassion, and generosity.

Our vision is to be a beacon of light for local communities. It is our greatest desire to show the love of Jesus as we do our part to be a consistent resource in providing healthy and nutritious food for those dealing with difficult times.

About The Pantry – Atlanta

The Pantry – Atlanta is an artery of our main location in Douglasville, Ga. Our location was established because we heard the clarion cry of the local community. Operating out of Chapelhill Church – Atlanta, we started small by meeting the needs of a few members of the church. Over time, word spread about our location as we began to fully grasp the earnest need of the community. As we began to grow, we saw the opportunity to do more!

Our Partnership with the Atlanta Community Food Bank (ACBF) afforded us the chance to grow from serving 867 families in 2018 to 6,424 families by 2021 – that is over 22,600 people in 3 years! We have no plans of stopping – not even during a pandemic. In 2020 while the world was shutting down, we connected with city council, community leaders, and other churches to create a resource to combat hunger with fresh meats, fresh produce, dairy, and shelf-stable items.

Under the leadership of the mayor of East Point, and the partnership with ACBF we were able to establish a faith-based coalition in each ward of East Point.  We were a beacon of light for people who were struggling with the devastating impact of the pandemic. Our purpose was to provide not only natural but spiritual nourishment for those in need during one of the most complex times for our country. Along with providing on-site COVID-19 testing, we were able to serve and pray with over 11,000 people in one year! In 2021, as the country sought ways to get back to work/school, we still heard the call of the community. In one year, we went from a monthly to bi-weekly operation.

Our dedication was noticed, and we were awarded a large grant which helped to expand our operations. We were able to create an on-site dry room for nonperishables, purchase a large unit for cold storage and streamline our processes to digital, all while smiling through our masks. Last year we were able to partner with Hands On Atlanta, giving us the chance to share the positive impact of The Pantry – Atlanta with over 120 new volunteers from throughout Georgia. Your support of our non-profit is immeasurable. We cannot make an impact on the community without volunteers, churches, schools, partnerships, civic organizations, and financial support! Please join us as we strive to be a thriving source of inspiration to those experiencing challenging times in the Atlanta area and beyond!
