Volunteer

We are excited that you have chosen to volunteer with us! The experience of serving others is life changing! Whether you choose to serve at our Douglasville or Atlanta site, we have a volunteer opportunity for you!

Ready to Serve? What is Expected of you as a Volunteer of The Pantry

Volunteers must be flexible and willing to assist where needed. Depending on what type of food shipment we receive for that day, volunteer support will be needed for breaking down bulk quantities of food, adding items to prepared boxes of food, and/or setting up tables and chairs for our mobile pantry process.

Everyone is a part of the “Clean-Up Crew”. From the start of distribution to closing, each volunteer is to assure that all food package debris and empty boxes are broken down and placed in the container(s) for recycling; this allows for everyone to have a clean and safe environment!

Additionally, all volunteers must be able to:

  • Work in a fast-paced environment
  • Lift at least 30 lbs.
  • Arrive on time or call if not able to come on selected serve day
  • Adhere to instructions, especially COVID – 19 guidelines
  • Must be physically able to walk, stand, and lift for the duration of their shift and work in a setting that is not climate controlled and outside elements.
  • If a volunteer is feeling sick on or prior to the selected day, they must promptly seek medical care and then notify the Site Manager of your condition. Please help us to keep everyone safe by taking care of yourself and joining us for a different volunteer opportunity.

    • Must always wear a mask while on-site
    • Practice social distancing at times while on-site

Furthermore, we request before returning to the site that the volunteer is cleared of any COVID -19/ Omicron symptoms. Thank You for helping to keep our volunteers and recipients safe!

    1. Close toes shoes, no sandals or flip-flops for safety reasons
    2. No clothes that promote profanity, alcohol, smoking, or gangs
    3. Please wear a beautiful smile behind your mask, reflecting the joy of serving in your heart!

The Pantry provides opportunities for court-ordered volunteers to complete required service hours during our regularly scheduled volunteer shifts; however, our first concern is our customers and regularly scheduled volunteers; therefore, we reserve the right to deny court-ordered community service requests for a variety of reasons related to criminal charges.
