Mission

Our mission is to reach out to all who express a need for food. Their needs are the compelling force that drives us to serve at the highest possible level of compassionate generosity.

The Pantry started in 2001 in a small room provided by a local church. Within a few years this outreach relocated to a larger food pantry location and went from serving eight families to 55 families within three weeks! These formative years led to the establishing of the faith-based, non-profit organization called LifeTools Community Development Corporation.

The Pantry has grown rapidly over the years. We have partnered with the Atlanta Community Food Bank, obtained our own building located on Hwy 5 Douglasville, GA, and are presently serving hundreds of families weekly who struggle with food insecurity caused by varying life-altering circumstances such as job loss, changes in family dynamics, and unforeseen medical hardships.

We rely heavily upon churches, schools, civic organizations and others within our community who volunteer their time and give of their financial resources to support our mission to feed the hungry and share the love and compassion of Christ. Last year, along with nine other partnering agencies, we fed over 100,000 people. Truly, the need is great.

Financial support keeps our hand extended to those we serve and those awaiting our help. Juan Carlos is one of those who, due to his own child’s drug addiction, is now the primary caregiver for his three grandchildren. Juan has his own health problems with the end stages of cancer. He depends on The Pantry and doesn’t know how he would make it without us!

Overcoming In Times Of Disaster:

Hurricane Katrina

In early 2005 Hurricane Katrina displaced thousands of people from the Gulf Coast States with many relocating to Northern Georgia and The Pantry was able to provide food relief to all who came our way in need!

Catastrophic Flooding

In September 2009 our local communities experienced catastrophic flooding that impacted 69 counties and displaced hundreds of people from their homes. The Pantry was the only food pantry in Douglas County that was able to rise up to meet the need for folks displaced or out of work due to the flooding!

COVID – 19 Pandemic

When the 2020 COVID–19 pandemic shut down our country, it did not deter us from our mission to serve! We simply pivoted to extend our arms around those in need. With our second location up and running for a year, we were ready for the challenge! During these tiring times, our locations were able to provide much needed food to nine food-related locations. The mayor of East Point asked us to partner with a countywide initiative to establish a collaboration with four local churches and other local non-profits in the community. We became a hub for several additional non-profits, Fulton County Schools, and for weekly onsite COVID-19 testing all while never stopping in our distribution of food, and all while serving with a smile – through our masks!
